Endurance Project rant
My name is Jessica Alley. Since March, I've been living without running water in my home after my service was shut off for nonpayment. The problem with that is that I provided everything necessary to prove I am who I say I do I am after the lady implied, that I was a squatter, had no right to be here and didn't even give me a way to work with the water company wouldn't give me any way to appeal. What they were doing and won't even answer me now. They deleted my account off. Of their website, after I sold my car to pay it. Because i'm on a fixed income, and i'm disabled, leaving or choosing a different water provider is not an option. So I guess I'm just supposed to sit here and not be able to flush the toilet. I have to find cups or bags for sanitary reasons. And this is emotionally and physically taxing it's degrading and it's not right. I didn't ask to be here.None of us did. I'm starting The Endurance Project, a platform where people in poverty can share their stories and connect directly with people who want to help be that financial leave?Or whatever way they choose. Too many of us suffer and we are overlooked because we don't have an audience or a support network. Or because we didn't provide the right form to the right agency on time. Nobody is coming to save us, guys. These agencies make it almost impossible to access meaningful resources. I think it's that way by design. What do you think? Water, food, and shelter, aren't luxuries--they are human rights.
On the platform, every single person, every American will be able to sign up via email for a hand up. That's what I'm going to call it. I believe the government should fund these hand ups, but they can also be funded through donations. Every single american will be entitled to having a "hand up" in the amount of fifty thousand dollars one time. Once you've gotten your hand up, you'll get a number to associate you with it. Sort of like a social security number, but not. This is to ensure stability and a chance, not endless dependence. America has so much abundance, it's sickening, and we have funding for everything, except for me, the citizens who need it the most.
It's time that the government it starts to help its citizens instead of punishing them. I love our President, but I think if you're going to make something a crime. I think that you should walk a day in the life of our shoes. How about you? Go without water without being able to flush the toilet or take a shower 5 months. Or since you're a billionaire, how about you directly? Fund these hand ups for people, and then if they get these hand ups, there's no excuse. And you'll have a reason to lock people up for being homeless after that, but I think that it's only fair. If you're a billionaire, you could feed and house every American and still have plenty left for yourself and your family for generations. So it's unfair that there's people like myself, and so many others, that are sitting without basic essentials, or worse, being punished, because of circumstances that are not in their control. It's just not right, and also use logic and think about it for a minute. If people have, they all had what they needed and weren't struggling starving, just trying to survive. I think that they would be more inclined to contribute. People would want to go to work. They would have a reason to work something to live for and strive for right now, people have nothing to lose. So why even try?
And I don't mean this at anybody directly. I'm just kind of speaking in a general sense. All agencies I've ever dealt with, don't make it so easy, even if you jump through their hoops, you still have to jump through hoops and more hoops and more hoops. Unless you're born into wealth, you don't have a chance. Doesn't everyone have a right to pursue happiness?
I'm not even pursuing that anymore. All I want is peace and a place where I can take bath and lay my head at night without worrying about being told to leave or having my utility turned off, because some lady has a personal grudge who doesn't even know me.
I want us all to win. Nobody should have to go through being so thirsty, their tongue, has swollen, and they are thinking about what neighbors hose, they can steal a drink of water from. Or nobody should have to be sleeping in their car with their children and worry about going to jail and dealing with cps and losing their kids because they are homeless! How r ridiculous. This is America! Come on! People are so angry and nasty to each other, that it makes me cry. A little kindness and warmth goes such a long way. Just a smile or a kind gesture, means a lot! Believe me. If the government and its agencies actually cared about people and wanted them to make it,I think that they would. And we aren't blameless, either we have our attitudes and our resentment and blame and blame and blame everybody, but ourselves. When we are given help, we need to yet utilize that helpful. And do not take it for granted, and not expect things to fall into our laps. We can't ignore problems and expect them to go away without doing the footwork. We cant afford to blow a chance, if a chance is given, because most of the time, it's not.
This is about dignity and unity more than it's about charity. I think that if we want america to be better, we should want each other to be better, because that's what america is., it's us. Together, we can give people a hand up, not a handout. Will you join the Endurance project? Thank you for standing with me.
I've created a gofund me for the Endurance Project, but I don't have an audience to share it to. I live in a rural town where I know nobody. I don't have a social life. I don't expect to attract a lot of attention, but I really do need help. I need help to purchase a vehicle, hire a website designer, and maybe even an attorney. I'm open to any ideas or collaboration of any kind from anybody. I'm not really sure how this blogging thing works. This is my first "blog". I've always hated the word, blog. It just sounds silly.
After my hilarious attempt to I need to make a website on my own about the endurance project. I just am trying anything pretty much. I'm not sure how the audience on this works. I have no clue if anybody's going to see it. I'm kinda assuming that no one will, but here we are. Im not going to give up, because I think that this idea is an important one. I really think that there should be universal housing. There should be universal, medical care, all of that, because these aren't things that we choose to have. If we don't have these things, it's not possible to maintain a healthy life. It's becoming too hard for people to be alive if we keep going, the direction that we are and people are only going to become more bitter, more divided, and we all are just people. After all, we're all the same, we just want to make it through the day to feed our families. And have a place to call home, and I think that's not a lot to ask for. When you're the wealthiest nation on the planet.
The "homeless problem", is everybody's problem because the homeless, are Americans like you. Only thing is, they have been forgotten, judged, & discarded. It's time that we start looking out for each other and helping our fellow american and giving them a hand up out of the rut that they're in regardless of their past, or whatever addiction they have or don't, because you'd be hard pressed to find a person on the planet today, that isn't addicted to something in one form or another. Nobody has a right to look down their nose at people that are less fortunate. Quit stigmatizing people's way of life, and they will be willing to get help in meaningful ways. Stop making assumptions and assuming everybody is in the same category. Because most of the time, it's not even what you think. And uh, it's not fair.To lump everyone into the same category that way, I always hated that. Literally everything. The situation is different an individual, and it that's a simple way to put it. I know, but the whole way that we look at things needs to change. We are all on the same team here. We all want the same things.
I think that it's stupid to discard people so quickly when every single one is worth something and can contribute if they are given a hand up. It's not logical, and it doesn'make financial sense either because these citizens, given the chance most of them would love to work if they had something to work for a reason to live, or somebody that cared a little.
Well anyway there's my rant. I'm not sure how I can convey this to the right people. I know it sounds outrageous and impossible, but it's not. I believe that there's people that care about this. I have to believe there's people that care about other people. I know that they are rare, but I think that there's more than we give people credit for. I haven't lost faith yet, in humanity. Almost, but not yet. Let's come together for something that matters.
If you can donate to my PayPal even 50 cents, it helps. I appreciate you, and I love you, because you're awesome, or you wouldn't be here.
